Silence

There is a silence that
speaks louder than words
when all that is heard is
the sound of the blood

rushing to my brain as
pictures of you explode
in a kaleidoscope of color,
thought, and emotion.

It is in those moments
that I look the hardest to
find you, to reach out,
to hear your voice,

no matter what you say.
It has been 24 hours
since we last spoke and
almost that long since

I read your words as
you sat with a friend
talking, listening,
perhaps sharing that

part of you I thought
was mine. Your absence
is as palpable as your
silence is deafening,

and I grow more silent
with each passing hour
that I am left to wonder
where you are and why

your silence is so loud.
