Into Hiding

Into Hiding
He found her heart
From one love lost –
and one betrayed
From Mother’s loss and
Nerves too frayed

To miss or think or say or feel
Her heart, his hopes –
for dreams too real
That into hiding her
Heart has fled

So now the thoughts
That fill his head
Of walls so tall
Of words unsaid
Her work forestalls

His heart in dread
Of what may come
To pass instead
His tears this time
In painful rhyme

In truth is seen
What mind must mean
A love that shows
What all may seem
A tear, a sense

That we can not
Be born or wed
To each now sought
A life together –

Is all for naught
