Morning light filled the room
and dust motes danced as
sheets silently hissed and
he moved closer to her.
Her warmth draws him
as he positioned his
front to her back and
she snuggles closer.
Connected like two spoons
fit together. Two halves.
One whole. Two hearts
beating as one, his lips
find her ear and he softly
says, “I love you,” Still
asleep, she moves closer
to his resting form. His
eyes closed, his body
bathing in her warmth,
he does not hear her say
“I love you too,” as she
turned toward him with
a sly smile and greeted
the day with a kiss that
lasted until he woke from
his dream.
