Tulips

Colorful fields of tulips
Undulate to a rhythm
Orchestrated by the wind.
Across a field, a butterfly

Dances among the flowers
To a rhythm of its own.
An artful dance that has it
Flitting near and far – first

Close – then at a distance
From the closest bloom.
The dance continues until
Tulips and butterfly move

Closer in rhythm, a symphony
In color and motion. In that
Moment I see you and me,
Dancing among those tulips,

Caught in our own rhythm.
And then you are gone,
Though the music continues.
Awaking from a dream, I feel

A heaviness on my heart.
A mixture of emotions and
Feelings as I remember that
Our rhythm has changed.

Where once I gave myself
Permission to dance to my
Rhythm and sing the song in
My heart, now I stop as if

The music no longer plays and
The tulips no longer dance.
It makes me wonder if whether
We heard the same music that

Even now, I hear. We may not
Always choose to hear, but
The music still plays and the
Tulips still dance to the

Rhythm of my heart.
