Resturant Review

Twenty-four hours later
Your presence was
Still touchable
Air still swirling
With the color of your eyes
The hint of your smile

I closed my eyes and
Saw you
Heard you
Missed you
Knowing you were gone
Thinking you were here

His happy words reminding
How lovely you were
Meant to make me feel
Connected to the night
Before – making me feel
Disconnected from my heart

Food arrives
Appetite lost
– remembering the joy of
Watching you eat
Living in that moment when
You discovered the taste

Eyes closed
Sound muted
Conversation on automatic
While I remember
Sharing “something refreshing”
With someone adored

A walk to a ticket-less (black) car
– no door to open
– no song to play
– no hand to hold
Only remembering your words –
“I cannot let myself do this”

Was it all a dream
Or a reality gone astray
I know you were there in
My mind and heart
As I sat quietly and
Ordered another drink
